cool beans

Ohmyhotpockets!
My name is Vergilia Cool-Beans; I am a sophomore college student studying Political Science + Geology. I'm the annoying kid showing up at your door at 9 in the morning on Saturday asking you which political candidate you will vote for... as well as that creeper in your back yard sampling rocks. Yikes!

My Personal Goals
finish my college education
get TEFL certified
learn Korean
teach English abroad

Sunday Night, guys…

I still have so much to get done ;_; At least I have managed to tackle a majority of everything that I need to get done for the exams. Now I just have to finish up those bits and pieces of every subject…

7:45 pm now… probably staying in the science lab until past midnight to hopefully finish all studying for Arabic exam, review of the last two economics chapters, and half of my mineralogy packet.

Bought a “Shot in the Dark” coffee-expresso-thing that will keep me up until I pass out. I have to compensate my drive back home too ;_; It’ll be almost 2 by the time I collapse on the bed.

WHY ARE ALL OF MY PROFESSORS ASSIGNING ALL OF THE MIDTERM EXAMS A WEEK BEFORE THE ACTUAL MIDTERM WEEK? D:

Adventures at the Registrar Office

Vergilia: I'm here to request a name change. I recently received citizenship and now have a passport to show identification of my new name.
The Lady: So... you were a citizen and now you're not?
Vergilia: No... I wasn't a citizen and now I am. Hence my name has been altered slightly and I need a name change. I am an immigrant.
The Lady: Oh, alright. Now on your records, are you a foreign exchange student then?
Vergilia: No, I'm just a regular in-state student.
The Lady: How can you be an immigrant and not a foreign exchange student?
Vergilia: Because I lived here for 12 years now...
The Lady: Ma'am... are you an illegal?
Vergilia: ...no... I was a legal US Resident by a Green Card. The citizenship process takes about 10 years so now I'm a citizen.
The Lady: I don't get it. How can you be an immigrant and not a foreign exchange student. Did you marry an American? Is that how you're a citizen now?
Vergilia: ...can I speak to someone else?

It is Saturday. And I have 3 exams and a presentation due the following week…

Monday - Arabic Exam

Tuesday - Economics Exam Part 1

Wednesday - Arabic Presentation

Thursday - Economics Exam Part 2

Friday - Mineralogy Exam

This is what I look like when doing readings for a class on my laptop late into the night.
Why do I do this to myself?
Look at this! Suddenly Econ makes so much more sense when Michael Phelps is in the picture! :O
The “Hump” Day is almost over and I’m still trying to squeeze in assignments to work on without dragging it out too long tomorrow.
Classy Migraine Pose.

First Day of Sophomore Fall Semester

I have four classes and a lab on Monday-Wednesday-Friday spanning from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm - back-to-back. I only have ten minutes between each class period and that is spent getting from building to building with a fraction of the time to spend.

Some say it’s crazy; I say it’s genius. Why?

  1. The earliest class I have is at 10:00… that’s pretty darn reasonable considering I usually had my earliest at flippin’ 8 AM! D:
  2. Because I’m a commuter, I don’t just wake up at 7:30 to get ready and hop to class, I have to get up at 6. Now, I get up at 8 and I’m quite happy at wandering around the house half asleep at 8 instead of 6.
  3. Without having time in-between classes, I don’t have to worry about wasting possible homework time by finding a place to myself without the clatter of other students to focus on my work. Now I know that the only time I have available is at home, in peace.
  4. The classes are only 50 minutes and this constant switch is a good pace to keep me awake. I go from rocks to politics to literature to Arabic without dragging on too long on one topic.
  5. The following day my earliest and last class is at 3:30 PM and I have the whole morning to myself - I can relax and do homework at my own pace without squeezing in time slots here and there.

Have I mentioned that I can now sleep in an additional 2 hours?

Finalized schedule for Fall 2012 @UMW.
